7 Kitchen Interior Decor Holiday Ideas to Cozy Up Your Kitchen

November 16, 2020

Refresh your holiday kitchen interior decor with some holiday decorating ideas. While the holiday season is looking a little different for all of us this year, we’re still celebrating the festivities at home with our loved ones. With a little more room in our schedules, now is the perfect opportunity to cozy up the heart of your abode!

Below we break down 7 easy ways for anyone to amp up the cozy factor in your kitchen interior.

1. Bring Your Family Around a Kitchen Island with Edible Decor

Dressed up with edible decor, kitchen islands are real stoppers. Proudly display your favourite goods in a stylish, space-saving, tiered stand. The smell of fresh-baked goodies will immediately set the mood bringing the holiday spirit delectably to life.

2. Scatter Accessories Across Kitchen Counters

Scatter small accents around kitchen counters for an effortless, subtle festive look. Opt for all white holiday kitchen decor for a look that isn’t overwhelming the space with colour. Otherwise bring the outdoors inside with outdoor-inspired wooden, woven and plaid pieces for that sought-after rustic feel.

3. Add a Hot Cocoa bar to your kitchen

‘Tis the season for rich, cozy hot cocoa at home, and what better way to enjoy than with a designated hot cocoa bar cart in the kitchen? You can find a stylish bar cart anywhere these days (bonus points if it’s in a gold or beautiful bronze finish). Add a selection of your favourite mugs, some dishes with chocolate shavings, mini marshmallows, candy canes, and whatever else will make epic hot cocoas, and get ready to have the coziest cocoa nights at home all season long.

4. Make your house smell like Christmas

Tired of heavily perfumed candles or air fresheners? Try this super simple potpourri whenever you want your home to smell incredibly cozy! Slice three tangerines and add to a large pot of water. Throw in three cinnamon sticks, two-star anise, a teaspoon of cloves, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a cup of cranberry juice (or two cups of fresh cranberries). Bring to a gentle boil. Turn down the heat and let simmer for 3-4 hours (or until your home is filled with the most delicious aroma ever). You can even cool it in the fridge overnight and use it again the next day!

5. Adorn the doorways with twinkling lights

Is there anything cozier than the warm glow of twinkling lights at Christmas time? This super simple décor idea is sure to wow any guest. Paired with lush greenery or garland, you may just want to keep these up all year! There’s no such thing as too much garland, so hang them in every doorway on the main level. If you have space atop your cabinets, this is another perfect place to drape some twinkling garland in the kitchen.

6. Add a Christmas tree to the kitchen

Who said you can only have one tree? Adding a smaller, no-fuss tree to your kitchen makes it feel instantly cozier and more festive. Opt for an artificial tree to cut down on clean up. A smaller tree in the kitchen is also a great place to show off the kids’ Christmas crafts and homemade ornaments!

7. Scatter your open shelves with glitzy pinecones

If you have open shelving in your kitchen, a fun way to add some holiday feels is to scatter gold or metallic-dipped pinecones along your shelves. This makes a super fun DIY project to do with the family too. Gather some pinecones from your weekend hike, add some gold or silver paint, and voila! You can also add string loops with ribbon and a hot glue gun and make tree ornaments!
